SUMMARY:First Friday Event
DESCRIPTION: \n \n\nEach of my paintings and photographs represents
a moment of time in space. Each one is a barometer of how I was feelin
g at that moment and what was important to me during that time.
Diana Suskind\nDiana Suskind’s art represents the stories of her lif
 e. A line of whimsical greeting cards, for instance, draws upon her ye
ars of work with infants and toddlers using the Educaring™ approach,
as well as her experiences using creative arts to teach early childho
od education at Fitchburg State University. Her artwork is influenced
particularly by her travels around the world as a Fulbright Senior Sch
olar — working in hospitals, orphanages and schools in developing na
tions to create respectful interactions with children.  \nIn many of
her pieces, she invokes the native animals from the countries she has
visited: the roosters who woke her up in Belize; the giraffes, monkey
s and elephants from South Africa; the turtles she swam with in Fiji.
On a personal level, she reveals Rielee, her pet cat, and also her exp
erience with nature at the Otisco Lake family cottage, where she spent
summers while growing up and family time today. In summary, Diana Sus
kind’s work weaves together the loves of her life: children, fantasy
and simple pleasures. “I see the world in all its dimensions,” sh
e says. “An English garden is not just an object in space; it is the
trees around the garden, and how the whole space affects mood and beh
avior.\nThe artist studied oil painting and photography at Lorenzo De
Medici in Florence, Italy, as a recipient of the Marion Jasper Whiting
Foundation Grant and later as a private student.\nNamed Artist of the
Month for May 2014 by the Leominster Art Center Gallery, Diana Suskin
d was also the first artist selected for the Members’ Art Exhibit at
Kerem Shalom Synagogue in Concord, Massachusetts in celebration of th
e installation of Rabbi Darby Jared Leigh, March-April 2014.\nAbout Di
