DESCRIPTION: In its official grand opening, Szozda Gallery features t
 he distinctly different works by artists Phil Parsons and Barbara Cont
 e-Gaugel. Titled “Without Restraint,” the show opens January 12 an

 a Conte-Gaugel maintain studios at the Delavan Center in Syracuse NY. 
 A glance inside each of them reveals a difference and a sameness in ho
 w these two local artists work: a difference in that Conte-Gaugel is d
 rawn mostly to the minute in her collage/assemblage pieces, Parsons to
  in-depth swaths across large canvases. Ask either artist what motivat
 es them and their responses are the same: they ‘do what they want to
 ’ at the time, unencumbered by the status quo. Their approach to exh
 ibiting different styles of their art is the same as well, thus the ti
