Art Available - Gallery 1

Hope by Ron Warford, 40' x 30 " Graphite on Black Board, Framed
Mr. Warford's work was selected by the Smithsonian Institution for a national traveling exhibition in 1973. He was one of the initial founding and teaching members at the Folk Art Gallery in Syracuse. His work spings from his imagination and is masterfully executed. Tel (315) 391-5115 for more info or to purchase. One of the presidents of a local art guild referred to Ron's work as  "master works" for their power and quality.

Strength , by Ron Warford. 20 " X 30"

Home is Where the Hearth Is by Jaws. This piece took 600 hours. Amazingly, to produce this the artist had to put the snowflakes  in first on a white fine piece of paper and then build everything around it. Think about it - this amazing work, and other pieces of the artists work can be seen at CNY Artists Gallery, which purchased this piece in 2013.

Event Description

Syracuse City Ballet has teamed up with photographer Kay Lavonier to create Central New York’s own “Ballerina Project” - a series of photographs depicting the grace and elegance of ballet dancers posing against well known Central New York landmarks and scenes. Influenced by the work of Dane Shitagi and Jordan Matter, Kay Lavonier is excited to bring this concept to Syracuse:

“The locations are a mixture of places that the dancers and myself thought captured the beauty and grace of this wonderful region we are all lucky to live in - showcasing the proud heritage tied to the region’s orchards, inspiring art and amazing architecture. “ states Kay Lavonier of her new project.

The Opening Reception is Thursday April 26th from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at The Gallery at The Tech Garden (235 Harrison St, Syracue), and also serves as a fundraiser for Syracuse’s premier ballet company, known for its annual production of The Nutcracker. The show runs through May 24th (Viewing hours: Mon – Fri from 9am – 4pm).

“We are extremely excited to collaborate with an area artist to present the Ballerina Project” states Kathleen Rathbun, artistic director of the ballet – “It is interesting to explore how the art of dance can be affected, and can affect our surroundings”.

As part photography showcase and part fundraiser, the not for profit Ballet company will also announce their 2012 – 2013 Season lineup, encouraging visitors to become members, purchase pre-sale tickets at discounted rates, and be screening snippets of the 2011 Nutcracker, filmed by Daylight Blue Media. Dancers will be performing a short routine for guests.

“The Gallery at The Tech Garden is pleased to be fostering a showcase in support of Syracuse City Ballet and their collaboration with a local artist” says curator and artist in residence, Ty Marshal, “this is a great example of the spirit of collaboration and the exploration of the human form and its relationship to our unique regional architecture and natural landscapes”
