Hope by Ron Warford, 40' x 30 " Graphite on Black Board, Framed 
Mr. Warford's work was selected by the Smithsonian Institution for a national traveling exhibition in 1973. He was one of the initial founding and teaching members at the Folk Art Gallery in Syracuse. His work spings from his imagination and is masterfully executed. Home is Where the Hearth Is by Jaws. This piece took 600 hours. Amazingly, to produce this the artist had to put the snowflakes  in first on a white fine piece of paper and then build everything around it. Think about it - this amazing work, and other pieces of the artists work can be seen at CNY Artists Gallery, which purchased this piece in 2013.

I've been using Golden Open acrylics for a while now. Love them. They'e completely mixable with regular acrylics and mediums, and increase the drying time the way an extender would, without diluting the color. They stay wet on the canvas and palette for days. I usually combine them with regular Golden colors so I can have a workable painting for a day or so, but one that dries faster than it would with all Open colors. 
As for plein air painting...I've started a number of paintings plein air, but usually finish them up in the studio. I built a couple of painting boxes out of wooden cigar boxes. They mount to a camera tripod with a screw mount. I made them so they hold a small panel or canvas -- up to 9 x 12 or so. They work well and are very portable.

Hi Eva!  That sounds so nice!  I wish I could get away for a weekend but I got a 10 months old who needs his mommy.  Do you and Sharon paint together often?  I may join you if you do.  I'm going to do watercolor sketch at the Columbus Circle this Saturday.  I belong to EHBC Artists Community and we have planned some events including plein air painting/sketching.  So if you're interested, you can visit www.easternhills.org/go/artist.  Looking forward to meeting you some day!

I love plein air painting! It combines 2 of my favorites....being outside and painting! I'm going to the Saranac Lake area next weekend with Sharon Blair from the Art Store for a weekend plain air trip!

John-Open Acrylics...sorry I call them oil because they have all the properties of oils except smell and can be cleaned with water. They are polymer so Golden isn't really producing oils but any paint I can work into weeks after application and that is as creamy...feels like oil to me

DEAR MR. FENG. I NEVER DID PLAIN AIR PAINTING. BUT I THINK AND I KNOW THAT AS A LAND SCAPE PAINTER, IT MAKE DIFFERENCE TO PAINT AT THE LOCATION. NOW SEASON FOR PLAIN AIR PAINTING. IF I PAINT SOMETHING ON LOCATION I WILL UPLOAD HERE.

Presently, I'm primarily a jeweler, but I have a past with acrylics, and drawing, a bit of pen and ink.  I like to do landscapes, and hope to experiment with oils someday.

Are you referring to the Williamsburg line?  I haven't used them yet myself, but I do know that they actually brought Plansky's mills up to New Berlin to make them.  I never thought I'd live long enough to see Golden put out oils.- John

Is anyone using Golden Oil Paints? I was in one of the test groups and it seemed too good to be true...curious to see how it is working.
