Art Available - Gallery 1

Hope by Ron Warford, 40' x 30 " Graphite on Black Board, Framed
Mr. Warford's work was selected by the Smithsonian Institution for a national traveling exhibition in 1973. He was one of the initial founding and teaching members at the Folk Art Gallery in Syracuse. His work spings from his imagination and is masterfully executed. Tel (315) 391-5115 for more info or to purchase. One of the presidents of a local art guild referred to Ron's work as  "master works" for their power and quality.

Strength , by Ron Warford. 20 " X 30"

Home is Where the Hearth Is by Jaws. This piece took 600 hours. Amazingly, to produce this the artist had to put the snowflakes  in first on a white fine piece of paper and then build everything around it. Think about it - this amazing work, and other pieces of the artists work can be seen at CNY Artists Gallery, which purchased this piece in 2013.

FROM PETER

There have been some good ideas coming out of this group, real creative ideas - so congratulations to those to have been participating. Michale Massurin suggested a photo shoot and then additional suggestions flowed from there.

I particularly like the idea of the Vampire Shoot in Ithica and then the other ideas that followed also were very creative.

I would say, we should put together a tentative schedule with alternate dates maybe because of bad weather.

I think we could advertise some or maybe all of these events. I have copied out most of the comments in the discussion and am pasting them below.

----------------------------------------------

Michael Massurin had suggested our group go on a photo excursion somewhere in the area.  We are looking for suggestions from others in the group.
If you are "Dying" to get out there and start some shooting before Spring gets here, I have one suggestion.  How about we visit the War of 1812 Cemetary up on Onondaga Hill to get some interesting pictures.
However, this being a democracy, do others have suggestions?  Our group has nearly a dozen members now.  Let's hear from all of you.  Let's be the first group of Creatives at cnyartists to get together on the ground.
Cheers, Don

I'm in and I love Cemetary shoots. There is an AMAZING cemetary in Utica,,,very very old and HUGE HUGE ornate monuments and eerie trees. Just throwing that out there. I have shot there in the summer would love to winter shoot there. Just throwing it out there.

I'm taking down names of places where we could get together to do some shooting.  Name and address of Utica cemetary, please.  Thanks for getting back on this piece.  I spoke with another member here that is not a phtographer, but they want to join us.  So I will open up the idea to all others on the site and we will set a date if most are in agreement.  Cheers, Don

Don it is Forest Hill Cemetary on Oneida St....it is sooooo Gothic. I could also get a couple of models in Utica that I know to do the vampire thing that might be quite fun there...it also has a lovely pond in it too

Hi Deborah,
Ah, the Vampire folks.  What fun it is when they are around.  If nothing else they keep us warm-blooded folks on the run.  I had nine ghastly, ghostly tales published in an anthology.  Have a peek at it.  Cryptic Tales and Ghostly Endeavors, Revised 2nd Edition | Book Preview

I have listed your place as a possible photo visit.  Thanks for responding so quickly.  The pond sounds like it would be a good spot for pictures too.  Can't beat a two for one deal like this. LOL Don

i would like to revisit the fenner wind mills - fall might be ideal though

There is also Proctor Park, right near by Forest Hill.  The area is surrounded with monuments as well.  All can be looked up online beforehand!

    Hi Candace,

I've made a mental note of this.  Now I have it catalogued as a possible venue when going to the Forest Hill one.  Cheers!

P.S. I'm so glad you decided to join the group. No one has to join to be a part of the photo shoots, but I'm glad you did. Smiles, Don

 Hi Don,

I'm in if the timing is right. Although, I probably will have to catch you all next time. I have a few shoots to do and then I'm off with my soon to be retired hubby on a cross country road trip.

How about a little nature for everyone?  Sterling nature center sits on lake Ontario and has a Blue Heron rookery where Eagles have been know to nest also.  And as an added bonus there is a photo contest every fall for nature shots taken in Cayuga County.  Just thought I'd sweeten the pie. LOL

Possible shoots & Ideas so far

1. Utica Cemetary with Vampires - Date to be determined - April, May June July , Aug ????

2. Fenner Wind Mills - Fall ? Date to be determined

3. Sterling nature center sits on lake Ontario and has a Blue Heron rookery where Eagles have been know to nest also.  And as an added bonus there is a photo contest every fall for nature shots taken in Cayuga County.

I definitely want us CNYArtists to sponsor these shoots and we will lend our publicity assistance etc to this effort.

Sounds like a good idea but I am partial to warmer weather. Hopefully, it won't be long now.
