Art Available - Gallery 1

Hope by Ron Warford, 40' x 30 " Graphite on Black Board, Framed
Mr. Warford's work was selected by the Smithsonian Institution for a national traveling exhibition in 1973. He was one of the initial founding and teaching members at the Folk Art Gallery in Syracuse. His work spings from his imagination and is masterfully executed. Tel (315) 391-5115 for more info or to purchase. One of the presidents of a local art guild referred to Ron's work as  "master works" for their power and quality.

Strength , by Ron Warford. 20 " X 30"

Home is Where the Hearth Is by Jaws. This piece took 600 hours. Amazingly, to produce this the artist had to put the snowflakes  in first on a white fine piece of paper and then build everything around it. Think about it - this amazing work, and other pieces of the artists work can be seen at CNY Artists Gallery, which purchased this piece in 2013.

Artemis Hand Forged Copper Jewelry

Artemis Hand Forged Copper Jewelry is hand forged & designed by me and my daughter, Samantha Zimnock. I specialize in metalsmithing & large, bold pieces. Sam’s specialty is delicate, complex, whimsical wirework & artwork for embossing. Each piece is unique. Together, we create the unique wearable artisan jewelry that is Artemis.

Copper is a beautiful metal which is making a comeback in the fashion industry. It was the first metal discovered by Prehistoric Man and copper beads dating to 9000 BC have been discovered in parts of modern day Iraq. Although I make no medical claims, copper has been used for medicinal purposes as far back as ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome as well as in the ancient Aztec civilization.

The color variations that you see in Artemis Jewelry are due to the use of fire or patinas to bring out details in the piece. Copper will patina or darken with age naturally as well due to oxidation. It is easily cleaned by soaking in a solution of lemon juice with salt. Some pieces are coated with a polish to preserve the finish. When you’re not wearing it, your copper jewelry should be stored in a treated flannel or plastic bag to prevent oxidation.

Metalsmithing is the art of forming metal through the use of fire and smiting or hammering. I currently use blowtorches and a wide variety of hammers to create with copper. Many pieces are influences by Charles Lewton-Brain, a well known metal artist who invented the fold forming techniques I use. This wearable sculpture emphasizes forming using the metals characteristics and although crafted from a single piece of metal gives the illusion of multiple pieces. As I work a bracelet or pendant, I often let the shape reveal itself to me rather than forcing it to be what I had envisioned.

The more delicate Artemis jewelry is often created by Sam or by us working together. Our Tree of Life collection will be available in the store soon as well as Sam’s Birds Nest rings and pendants.

Custom commissioned works are available upon request.
