Art Available - Gallery 1

Hope by Ron Warford, 40' x 30 " Graphite on Black Board, Framed
Mr. Warford's work was selected by the Smithsonian Institution for a national traveling exhibition in 1973. He was one of the initial founding and teaching members at the Folk Art Gallery in Syracuse. His work spings from his imagination and is masterfully executed. Tel (315) 391-5115 for more info or to purchase. One of the presidents of a local art guild referred to Ron's work as  "master works" for their power and quality.

Strength , by Ron Warford. 20 " X 30"

Home is Where the Hearth Is by Jaws. This piece took 600 hours. Amazingly, to produce this the artist had to put the snowflakes  in first on a white fine piece of paper and then build everything around it. Think about it - this amazing work, and other pieces of the artists work can be seen at CNY Artists Gallery, which purchased this piece in 2013.

Any time I'm asked this I always hesitate to say what are my feelings about making art. Why do I make it? Why do I ask my art students to make it? What happens when I make it? My belief is creativity is what set human animals into a different category from other species. (Not above just different) I believe we are driven to express ourselves creatively in some manner: music, painting, fashion, sports, dance etc.

The other part of the expression is the listener or audience. Everyone wants to be heard. So one reason I think I make art is to express my thoughts and feelings through this voice I have...and the other is the communication and interaction with the audience. Art allows me to speak in the voice that's unique to me, which makes me happy and at peace. I teach my students this lesson above all else. Art is a way to speak to the world in your own special way. That's the great part! There's room for everyone!

I've been painting since I was 9 and got my first real oil paint by numbers set and even though my parents insisted I take years of piano lessons (long fingers...great piano hands) I never loved it and finally at 16 found my voice and begged for art lessons.

When I became an art teacher my father said,"Teach Math, it's better! You'll never get a job, they need Math teachers!" and he was right! I never started teaching til the 80's. I still love teaching art as much as making art! I can't think of anything I'd rather be doing. Making kids into successful artists, art lovers and art consumers is very important for the future of our whole society! Where will we be in the 21st century without creative thinkers? This quote sums it up for me: ”To Love what you do and feel that it matters-How could anything be more fun?”

Deb,
Also, Peter suggested moving this blog to the top of your page. That is something you will have to do yourself.

Deb,
Hello. My name is Hubert Matson, and I'm an editor working with Peter Svoboda on this site. Peter had asked me to add your photos to your blog, and hopefully, this layout is ok with you. One thing we need is for you to edit the info below each photo with the correct Name, Media, Size and Price. If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll take care of it as soon as I can. Thanks!
Hubert
